Yuzuru Hanyu's Ex Wife Violinist Mayuko Suenobu Suspected Of Lying About Past

"Mayuko Suenobu, violinist.

Born in 1987 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. She started playing violin when she was 4 years old, in 2000 she was awarded a cash prize for winning the 'Yamaguchi Prefecture Student Music Contest Middle School'. In the year 2000, she received a high rank at the 'Japan Classical National Competition for Middle School'. In 2003, she was awarded with a diploma from the 'International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians'."

Her public profile (photo above) is starting to come under question. "The post was made more than 10 years ago and the person in charge has quit since then, so there is no way to get more details on the situation. However, normally the person in question offers information for the profile"

So we contacted, the NPO group, the people in charge of the contest about Suenobu's award history.

"There is a record of Ms. Suenobu entering the competition in 2004, so 2003 was an error. However, we could not confirm that Ms. Suenobu won in 2004."

This diploma from the contest is not an official document and instead called an "encouragement award". 

"The prize winners are basically 1st through 3rd, and in some cases winners are recorded till 6th place but in none of these lists does Ms. Suenobu's name come up. If the person in question says they were awarded with a diploma, that may be the case, but we have no way of confirming it with a competition from 20 years ago."
