Ariana Grande Fixes Misspelled Japanese Tattoo
Singer Ariana Grande got Japanese words (kanji) tattooed on herself with the wrong meaning.
Ariana Grande is known as a big weeaboo, and even though she does not actually understand kanji she gets a tattoo in Japanese anyways. Her music video and even official goods use the Japanese language, but she objected on Twitter to others calling it ‘cultural appropriation’ and criticizing her for it.
It all started with Ariana getting a shichirin tattoo on the palm of her hand. Ariana wanted the tattoo to say ‘七つの指輪’ a Japanese translation of her new song ‘7rings’. But since ‘つの指’ was omitted, she got a tattoo saying ‘七輪 (shichirin)’ instead which is a charcoal grill for cooking meat.
She showed a carefree attitude about the whole situation but after receiving a big response over it, she ended up getting help from a Japanese teacher and added 指 (finger) and a ♡ under 七輪 (shichirin) to correct the mistake. But, she continued to be called out for cultural appropriation and some people demanded an apology. Ariana denied the claims on Twitter.
Also, Ariana had a sweater with the word ‘ありがとう (thanks)’ in her official goods for the single ‘Thank U, Next’ which was later taken off the site.
